See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always
seek to do good to one another and to everyone.

Vengeance is God’s
prerogative. Jesus wants His followers
to return cursing with blessing, attacks with endurance, hate with love, and
evil with good. It is what Jesus did. The cross is the greatest exhibition of that,
and He has called us to take up our cross in following His example. Being a “do-gooder,” is often a term of scorn
employed by those who wish to bully their way through life, yet the people of
God embrace it fully. Irrespective of
the conduct of others toward us, our goal is to do good to others. We are to aggressively seek occasions for
service to our fellowmen. Let us take
the initiative to spread God’s love in this hate-filled world.
