THE GOD WHO IS ETERNAL
"In the beginning God CREATED the heavens and the earth” (emphasis added).
God is before all things. When the beginning began, God already was. If He created all things, then He Himself is eternal and uncreated. There has never been a time when God was not and will never be a time when He will not be. This deals with the false doctrine of naturalism—that creation essentially created itself.
God is above and beyond all things. He is transcendent. Although He is involved with His creation and present throughout His creation, as the Creator He is not in the creation in the sense of being in the rocks, the trees, the skies, the seas, even though there is no place you may go where He is not present. This is a great paradox. This deals with the false doctrine of pantheism—that deity is one with the creation.
The Eternal God is the only one who can give eternal life, “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent” (John 17:3). Knowing about God isn’t enough, although we must know about Him. From the knowledge about Him, we must come to know Him, personally. We can through Jesus. When we could not get to Him, He came to us. This deals with the false doctrine of deism—that God is aloof from creation.
Now, have you come to Him by faith in Christ?
