"So the Lord blessed the last part of Job's life more than the first." (Job 42:12a HCSB)
We love fairy tales. In fairy tales, always we get to the end, "and they lived happily ever after." But, life isn't exactly like that, is it? Ask Job. He had the storybook life. Living on easy street...healthy, wealthy and wise...he had it all...and lost it. His field of dreams turned into a graveyard of nightmares...or so it seemed. But the final chapters take us to a different conclusion: Job did live happily ever after!
The all-wise, all-powerful, all-loving Father in heaven had a plan that could not be thwarted. Job would testify, "I know that You can do anything and no plan of Yours can be thwarted." (Job 42:2 HCSB) We may be sure that those plans are for our good and His glory--and no demon of hell can impede them!
Now, don't read this the wrong way. Job experienced great hardship, heartache and horror, but saw all this turned around in this lifetime on earth...and that can happen to us. But, not always. More often than not, it may await eternity. Living happily EVER AFTER describes the bliss of the HEREAFTER!
With blessed assurance, I can promise you, that no matter what struggles you go through in life--and you may be stuck in the middle of a whirlwind of woe right now--it is going to get better, someday--if you are a child of the King. It is impossible for me to predict when, I only can be confident of what--happily ever after!
Then, "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will no longer exist; grief, crying, and pain will exist no longer, because the previous things have passed away. Then the One seated on the throne said, 'Look! I am making everything new.' " (Revelation 21:4-5a HCSB)
And, they lived happily ever after!
